Reconnecting with Community, Building a New Life
The transition after release from prison can be challenging. The Work and Gain Employment and Education Skills (WAGEES) program is here to support individuals recently released from the Colorado Department of Corrections as they reintegrate into the communities of Fremont, Chaffee, and Custer Counties. Our primary goal is to reduce recidivism by providing the resources and support needed for a successful return to society.
Who is Eligible?
- The WAGEES program is available to individuals who:
- Are currently on parole OR
- Have been released from the Colorado Department of Corrections within the past year
- Reside in Fremont, Chaffee, Lake or Custer County
- Individuals with sexual offenses are eligible for services on a limited basis, please contact you parole officer
Comprehensive Support Services:
WAGEES offers a range of services designed to help participants build a stable and fulfilling life in the community, including assistance with:
- Housing: Finding safe and suitable accommodation.
- Oak Haven Transitional Housing: For men only
- Employment: Developing job search skills and securing employment opportunities.
- Community Connections: Linking participants with other vital community providers and support networks within their county of residence.
- Transitional Prosocial Engagement: Events coordinated to address specific needs of individuals facing struggles after institutionalization.
- Transportation: Addressing transportation barriers to access services and employment within the tri-county area.
- Continuing Education: Supporting opportunities for further learning and skill development.
